For this exhibition, Galerie ORAE has been invited into the intimate setting of Galerie Patrick & Ondine Mestdagh in Brussels. Together, they present a sensitive dialogue between the works of French-Japanese artist Tiffany Bouelle and a selection of tribal art objects from Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
On January 20, Tiffany Bouelle performed two live interventions during the opening event: one on the gallery’s storefront window, and another across several canvases. Visible throughout the day, these performances offered visitors a unique opportunity to witness her artistic gesture unfolding in real time. The gallery remained open to all those wishing to meet the artist and experience this singular moment.
L’Éloge de l’Ombre (In Praise of Shadow) is an invitation to look differently — to allow what connects cultures, gestures, and eras to emerge. It invites viewers to discover how a contemporary work and an ancient object can, within the same half-light, tell a shared story: that of forms that endure, transform, and continue to accompany us through time.
