Bec Kirby (b.1992) is a British artist based in Manchester, working across painting and textile. Her practice is shaped by personal experience and the environments she inhabits, grounded in an attention to light, atmosphere, and the material presence of the built environment.
Her recent series, made from surplus mohair sourced from a local factory in northern England, highlights the tactile and ephemeral nature of the fibre, transformed through intensive brushing and hand sewing. Guided by a philosophy of slow craftsmanship, Kirby creates pieces that reward calm and sustained attention. This sensibility underpins her ongoing exploration of the nuances of materials, labour and care.
