LARA NABAWY

Lara Nabawy has experimented with a wide variety of materials, pursuing a vision that blurs the boundaries between painting and sculpture.

Sand is the central element of her art, allowing her to create sculpted works that constantly interact with light, colour and depth, offering an ever-changing visual experience. At the heart of her work is the exploration of the human silhouette in its abstract form. Inspired by themes of memory, identity and the interaction between relationships and human experience, Lara draws on both her personal introspection and her cultural influences.

Lara Youssef Nabawy is a self-taught German-Egyptian artist based in Geneva, whose unique work explores the boundary between painting and sculpture. Her artistic approach, deeply influenced by her multicultural heritage and her travels, revolves around the abstraction of the human silhouette, which she transforms into sculpted forms on canvas. Marked by a multicultural background and a deep curiosity about materials, she has developed an intuitive and sensory artistic practice centred on emotion, memory and perception.

Her artistic journey began at an early age, in an intuitive way. Fascinated by the emotional power that a work of art can exert in a space, Lara naturally turned to drawing and painting. Self-taught, she experimented with different techniques over the years, refining her visual language. Her passion was nourished by her studies in art history and interior design, which opened up new dimensions of visual creation, from spatial composition to the symbolism of forms.
